According to unconfirmed reports, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau is dead.
The reports have it that he was supposedly killed during a military operation in Konduga, Borno state on September 17, 2014.
However,
the news of his death is based largely on supposition and probability
for now so here are 7 reasons why he might not be dead.
- There has been no official confirmation from the Defence Headquarters or the Nigerian Army.
- There is no evidence except a purported photo of the deceased terrorist which has no concrete forensic backing.
- The report emanated from PR Nigeria, said to be the “image maker” of the Nigerian government, not from any credible military sources.
- All the military and intelligence personnel cited in the report were not named.
- The reports are conflicting with some saying Shekau was killed while yet others say someone who has been mimicking him was killed.
- According to the reports Shekau was probably killed on September 17 but news of his purported death was released on September 21, 4 days later. According to the 26 stages of death, it takes only about 24 hours for a person’s face to become essentially unrecognizable after death.
- Shekau was said to have been killed in August 2013 by the Joint Task Force.
