John Cena attacks Brock Lesnar in the corner of the ring
Brock Lesnar is still WWE World Heavyweight Champion – and he has Seth Rollins to thank.
The
Beast Incarnate was pummelled by John Cena at Night of Champions in
Nashville and after eating FOUR Attitude Adjustments seemed set to
relinquish his belt to the Cenation Leader. But before Cena could pin The Anomaly and become a 16-time world champion, Seth Rollins clocked him with the Money in the Bank briefcase, ensuring the bout ended in disqualification.
Rollins wasn’t done there, though, and Curb Stomped Lesnar – though The Architect’s hopes of cashing in his contract and snapping up sports entertainment’s ultimate prize were dashed by Cena, who arose from his daze and chased the former Shield man away.
That episode allowed Lesnar to regroup, flatten Cena with an F5 and leave his opponent on his back, an image in stark contrast to when the combatants wrestled in the evening’s main event.
Lesnar dominated Cena at SummerSlam en route to seizing the WWE World Heavyweight Title, and he wasn’t without venom in Music City either, regularly targeting his rival’s arm.
But the former UFC Heavyweight Champion was taken aback by an inspired Cena, who administered his first Attitude Adjustment in the embryonic stages of the contest and another, stunningly, whilst he was trapped in Lesnar’s Kimura Lock.
The Beast’s final salvo showed his power, but without Rollins, things could have been so different…
